For about 10 years we would see a pair of eagles sitting on a branch overlooking the point at Mara Lake. We would go waterskilling early in the morning, so the lake was calm and the eagles had a good view for fishing. Bald eagles mate for life. We happily named this pair Fred and Mabel. This is a bit of a tragic tale. The last two years there has only been one eagle on that same branch in the mornings. At first we called it Fred, but we have learned that the larger eagle in a pair is the female. So this is more likely Mabel.
