Rooted in Renewal: A Spring Gathering for Mental Health Recovery

What is it & Who is it for: Rooted in Renewal is an immersive spring gathering in the forest and beautiful Spiritwood Retreat centre, bringing together mental health care leaders, community members and advocates in support of Time Out Healing Society recovery programs.

Purpose/Why Attend: Proceeds from the event directly advance Time Out Healing Society’s mission of providing safe, restorative environments for individuals recovering from mental health challenges.

Event Details: Set beneath the aspen forest canopy at Spiritwood Retreat in Priddis, Alberta, guests will move through a curated full-day of art, yoga, and guided forest bathing sessions, with lunch and snacks provided. Designed to model the conditions that support resilience and mental health recovery, the event reflects a shared belief that healing is relational, experiential, and strengthened through safe community spaces.

Day will be led by fantastic facilitators:

Lorissa (Lala’s Little Art Studio)will guide a nature based art experience and you will take your piece home.

Sara (Yoga Santosha) will guide two styles, hatha and yin/restorative, yoga practices.

Anne (Wild Results) will guide a restful forest bathing experience using all senses and nature connection activities.

October 25th, 2025 Retreat - “Fall Into Health”

We are hosting quarterly public events. This one involved Forest Bathing led by Anne Robillard from Wild Results (https://www.wildresults.ca/) and Terrarium Building led by Matt Godfray. Each event begins with a community talk introducing Time Out Healing Society. Laura Law gave a wonderful October presentation.

Special thanks to Leah Fink from All Thrive (https://www.allthrive.ca) for leading a meaningful morning workshop to determine Time Out’s core values.

June 5th, 2025 - Time Out’s 2nd Retreat

Time Out is growing and we were happy to have people who were new to us as well as some of the founding members attend this event. This was a lovely evening of art, mindfulness and music at Spiritwood Retreat. We began with a community art project where we co-created our logo with unique personal contributions (see photo below), followed by time in nature giving mindfulness photography a try, and concluding with an acoustic set by Intermontane Superterrane (also known as the Garrison Trio). Thank you to all who contributed to hosting and those who came to enjoy the evening.

January 26, 2025 - Time Out’s 1st Retreat

Friends of Time Out gathered at Spiritwood Retreat in January to launch the mental health nonprofit. We shared the vision for the organization and did art, music and mindfulness practices to build community.

“Why Time Out?”

“What is Health?”

These two videos were created from interviews of participants at the January retreat.

Thank you to those who were willing to give an interview and to Emma and Josef Sveistrup for providing media at the event.
